The messages presented in this book were not prepared originally for publication, but were prepared and delivered at Pasadena College, Pasadena, California, as the 1942 Nease Foundation Lectures. Later they were delivered at Olivet Nazarene College, Kankakee, Illinois, as the 1942 Leist Lecture series, sponsored annually by Professor and Mrs. J. F. Leist of the Olivet Nazarene College. At the request of the sponsors of the lectures and many faculty members and students in both colleges, the messages are presented in printed form. In each college only five messages were delivered in the lecture series, but to give a more complete presentation of the subject, chapters five and six have been added. (From the Foreword)
